Restylane in New York
Restylane is a non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA). It consists of complex sugar chains which have been stabilized for longer lasting effect in the skin. The manufacturing process of Restylane is similar to the production of insulin or antibiotics.
When combined with the body's own hyaluronic acid, it creates volume for the treatment of lips, as well as other lines or wrinkles. The product is naturally integrated into human tissue, allowing nutritive agents and cells to pass freely through the gel implant.
As our skin ages concentrations of hyaluronic acid decreases. Restylane is injected into the dermis providing volume by restoring hyaluronic acid. One treatment session takes about 20 minutes. Pinpoint nerve blocks are placed to numb the area of the face that are to be treated making this procedure completely pain free. As an option patients are offered a hand mirror to watch and discuss product placement. (in our New York practice it is okay for and patients are encouraged to say "Doc I wish you would put a little more right here" and offer guidance. Our doctor- patient team approach to wrinkle filling makes for very happy patients) The results are immediate with no scars or other marks left on the face. Even though the treated area can swell up moderately and be red for up to one day afterwards, it is quite possible to meet other people and work as normal with minimal or no cover makeup.
It requires no pretesting and is injected in the same way as Collagen. Considered to last longer than Collagen or Hylaform.
